About.A history of Hedke Elementary School
|
Established in 1955Hedke Elementary School was built in 1955 and was one of 6 elementary schools in Trenton at the time.
Our school underwent renovations in the 1970s to add the lower elementary wing on the south side of the building. In 2010 renovation was completed to the building to make sure it was secure, updated technologically and energy efficient. Renovations at that time included windows replacement, the addition of an elevator, renovation to the entrance and main office, installation of cameras and new security and fire alarms as well as major renovation to all classrooms. Each classroom received new flooring, ceilings, lighting, cabinets, student and staff furniture. To modernize the building's inclusion of technology data projectors, document cameras, white boards, data drops and upgraded electrical service to all classrooms as well as limited WI-FI capacity was also installed. The building is currently undergoing additional renovations thanks to a bond passed by the citizens of Trenton. The upgrades will include the addition of two new Kindergarten classrooms, a new gym, cafeteria, kitchen, and music room. The current gym will be renovated to become our new 3 zone media center and the current kitchen will become a computer / STEM class room. Additionally several existing classrooms will be renovated to include new windows, and renovations to several existing rooms(computer lab, music room and library on the 2nd floor) will receive major overhauls to make them into general classrooms. To make room for our ancillary staff some rooms will be divided into smaller classes and additional spaces will be created for offices. All of these renovations should be completed by fall 2020! |
